These professional learning and networking sessions are meant to provide support for leaders in understanding effective reading instruction and the systems needed to support it. Join this network to learn “what works” with your colleagues! Directed towards educators working with multilingual learners including principals, curriculum directors, EL coordinators and/or EL lead teachers. This cohort will meet in person Oct. 3 and April 23, the cohort will meet virtually on Nov. 29, Jan. 25, and March 6. The cost is $50 and includes lunch in Oct. and April. South Central Service Cooperative is partnering with Dr. Amy Young from the Minnesota Department of Education to support MLL/EL/ESL educators in our region. This cohort is a focused and collaborative professional development opportunity designed for educators who work with English learners in educational settings. This cohort brings together teachers, instructional specialists, and administrators to enhance their expertise in supporting English learners' academic and language development. The cohort encourages networking, sharing best practices, and fostering a supportive community that empowers educators to lead positive changes in EL/ESL education and advocate for equitable learning opportunities for all students. Dr. Amy Young is the Education Specialist for Multilingual Learners, COMPASS Team, at the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE). Previously, she was an EL coordinator, elementary principal, and has taught at New York University and the University of Minnesota where she published on topics including collaborative dialogue for increased language complexity, content/language integration and dual language immersion/bilingual education.

All proceeds will go to the Gathering of Champions, a K-12 Minnesota student recognition event held the first Friday in August at the Mall of America.
