You have stories inside you! Join us to build your writing skills in character development, use of concrete details, memoirs, dialog, culling non-essentials and other revisions, and more! 

The Writers Studio offers students in grades 9–12 the opportunity to work directly with professional authors, provide and receive feedback from other participants, and showcase their work. Students will meet Nov. 15 for a day-long writing workshop, interact electronically throughout the year and convene in the spring for an open-mic event. Space is limited. Register today!

Preseneter Bios:

Geoff Herbach is the award-winning author of nine novels, including the “Stupid Fast” series and “Fat Boy vs. The Cheerleaders.” In the past, Geoff wrote and performed comedy, produced radio, and traveled around the country telling weird stories in rock clubs. He teaches in the MFA program at Minnesota State University, Mankato. His newest book, “Hooper,” just came out from Katherine Tegen/HarperCollins. Workshop topic: Generating ideas, building characters, using concrete details.

Kate St. Vincent Vogl is the author of “Lost & Found: A Memoir of Mothers.” National ABC news has featured her story and “The Akron Beacon Journal” named it among the best of the year. Her essays appear in best-selling anthologies such as “Listen to Your Mother” and “Why We Ride: Women Writers on the Horses in Their Lives.” Excerpts from her work-in-progress appear in “Bellingham Review” and were included among the finalists for the New Letters Prize. She received a 2017 Minnesota State Arts Board Grant to complete this novel. Vogl graduated from Cornell University cum laude; she received her JD from the University of Michigan and her MFA from Hamline.
