SCSC facilitates the MN state and National Academic Decathlon. The Academic Decathlon is a 10-event national scholastic competition for high school students based on a curricular theme, who take challenging exams in art, economics, literature, math, music, science, and social studies, and compete in interview and super quiz challenges. Competitions range from local scrimmages to national contests.

Teams consist of nine students from each GPA category: honor (3.8-4.0), scholastic (3.20-3.799) and varsity (0.0-3.199), as well as alternates. Competitions range from local scrimmages to national contests.
