SCSC Wellness Highlight • Brown County
Human connection is vital to overall wellness, fostering a sense of belonging, reducing stress, and improving mental health. Building relationships with coworkers through meaningful interactions and shared experiences strengthens team dynamics and creates a supportive workplace culture. This year, the Brown County Wellness Committee recognized the importance of connection through a Human Scavenger Hunt. By creating opportunities for employees to connect across departments, the challenge reinforced the value of collaboration and camaraderie in the workplace.
The Human Scavenger Hunt Challenge brought a creative twist to workplace wellness at Brown County, focusing on human connection rather than physical health. Employees were given a “Bingo”-style board with 25 unique facts and tasked with finding coworkers who matched them. The challenge encouraged conversations and cross-departmental engagement, helping staff learn more about each other. Participants who completed the board were entered into a prize drawing, adding a fun incentive.
Erin Schwab, Brown County’s Wellness Coordinator, noted the program’s inclusiveness. “This challenge broke down barriers because it was about creating a human connection with our coworkers,” she said. “It’s sometimes easier to have a conversation and ask questions than to complete a step challenge.” The response was overwhelmingly positive, showcasing the power of meaningful interaction in workplace wellness.
A workplace wellness program in an organization has become indispensable, offering many benefits for employers and employees. The SCSC Wellness Program is a dedicated initiative exclusively available to SCSC/MHC health insurance pool members.
