Horton Chosen as New GFW Superintendent

South Central Service Cooperative Shared Services Coordinators Ed Waltman and Harold Remme recently finalized the superintendent search for the Gibbon Fairfax Winthrop school district.
Jeff Horton was chosen from a pool of nine candidates who applied for the vacant position. Three candidates interviewed and Horton was unanimously approved by the school board for a three-year contract as the GFW superintendent.
He officially began his service July 1 and presented his 100-day plan to the school board Monday. Horton said his plan includes budgeting, COVID-19 planning, a facilities review, listening, a social media campaign, district-wide mailings and presentations in the coming weeks.
Horton previously served as the assistant superintendent in Duluth prior to accepting the GFW position.
