SCSC Awards Grabowska 2019 MSC Outstanding Service Award

South Central Service Cooperative board members and directors attended the 2019 Minnesota ServiGrabowska receiving the awardce Cooperative Annual Conference in July where they awarded Dr. Jim Grabowska the MSC Outstanding Service Award for his support, leadership and regional collaborative endeavors.

Dr. Jim Grabowska, SCSC board treasurer, has served on the SCSC board since 2012. He brings great experience to SCSC through oversight of control and accountability systems. More importantly, his focus as a board member is rooted in service to others.

“I provide enthusiastic support for the initiatives of the cooperative at the board table and to members of the cooperative. I actively support the employees of the cooperative and the expertise that they bring to their respective roles,” said Grabowska. 

Grabowska is currently a Spanish professor at Minnesota State University, Mankato while also serving as a school board member for the St. Clair Schools, commissioner with the Region 9 Development Commission, and a director with the Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration.

Prior to those positions, Grabowska was the president and CEO of the Inter Faculty Organization representing faculty interests at the seven Minnesota State Universities, president of the faculty association, department chair and a director on the Minnesota Board of Teaching. He has degrees from Northern State University, University of Oklahoma and the University of Minnesota. Prior to coming to Minnesota State University, Mankato in 1998, he was a professor at Gustavus Adolphus College, the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University, and taught high school in Minnesota and South Dakota.

His extensive connections and service bring ideas and increased opportunities to the services offered by SCSC. 

“I endeavor to build relationships between the coop and other organizations, whether they be members or not,” explained Grabowska.

He and his wife Kimberly have been married for more than 30 years. They have three adult sons and live in St. Clair with their dog, Evie.
