Two Teams Represent Minnesota at 2019 USAD Nationals

The 2019 United States Academic Decathlon Nationals was held April 25-27 in Bloomington, Minnesota. Teams from Avalon School and Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial represented Minnesota.

The team from Avalon School in St. Paul, who earned state championship honors, made their rookie appearance at this year’s national event with an overall team score of 35,779.6. They earned fourth place in their division out of 12 teams and took home Rookie of the Year honors as well as five individual medals. Ben Stever-Zeitlin, honor division, earned a bronze medal for music. 

Lily Barnes, scholastic division, earned a bronze medal for speech. Autumn Clayton-King, scholastic division, earned a bronze medal for interview. Reid Keire, varsity division earned a silver medal for art and a bronze medal for essay. An impressive showing for Minnesota!

The team from LCWM represented Minnesota in Division IV, earning 15th place out of 19 teams with a score of 30,299.
