South Central Service Cooperative is pleased to partner with The Freshwater Society to coordinate an art contest for high school students. The Society is offering scholarships totaling $3,000 to students who create art that expresses meaningful and artistic ways to respond to the theme, Water is Life, focusing on our most precious resourcewater.
Art projects may be submitted in three categories: flat surface (painting, drawing, or graphic design), photography, or three-dimensional (sculpture). Semi-finalists are selected at regional events in Minnesota and advance to state competition where the scholarship winners are announced.

The Freshwater Society, is a non-profit environment education organization established in 1968, who encourages the understanding and responsible use of freshwater resources. It has built this contest around a Les Kouba original, Water is Life, which they feel celebrates the beauty of water, laments its environmental degradation, and describes the human impact on the natural world.
