9th Annual “Making Connections” Conference— March 30

The 9th Annual “Making Connections” conference will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2006, from 8:15 a.m. to 3:35 p.m. at South Central College, North Mankato campus. The “Making Connections” conference is tailored to help teachers, counselors, administrators, employers, parents, community organizations and learners of all ages build relationships between business, education and community to successfully join the world of learning and the world of work. It is sponsored by the South Central Service, Work, & Learning Center, South Central College, South Central and Cannon Valley Tech Preps and South Central Perkins Consortia.

The conference will include General Sessions in the morning and afternoon with a variety of breakout sessions, and a presentation by a panel of employers. Breakout session topics include: Creating Strong Grant Proposals, St. Paul School’s Six-Year Plan, SkillsTutor, Stories of Service, Integrating College Readiness & Career Development, and Games to Use in Your Classroom.

Pre-registration is required by March 24, 2006. The fee is $30.00 (includes lunch & materials). Substitute teacher reimbursement is available to members of the South Central and Cannon Valley Tech Prep, and South Central Carl Perkins Consortia. Attendees will earn 5.5 Continuing Education credits. Registration details are being prepared and will be emailed to past participants by the last week in February.
