SCSC Receives School Finance Award Again in FY06

SCSC was awarded the FY06 School Finance Award for the second year in a row, demonstrating fiscal health and sound fiscal management and accountability. The service cooperative maintained compliance with Minnesota Statutes, participated in training initiatives, and conducted accountability strategies to qualify. The FY06 awards went to 7.5% of the total 545 reporting units. Staff at the Minnesota Department of Education reviewed local publications, audit reports, and thousands of pieces of fiscal data on the reporting units to determine the award winners. Winners will also be recognized at the Minnesota School Boards Association Winter Program as well as the August 2006 Leadership Program, sponsored by the Minnesota Department of Education. Other South Central Service Cooperative members receiving this award for two consecutive years: Waterville-Elysian-Morristown, and Fairmont Area Schools; receiving first year recognition: Faribault Public Schools and Waseca Public Schools; with special recognition to the Mankato Area Public Schools, who have set the bar, receiving this award four consecutive years, since the inception of the program.
