Young Writers Conference

South Central Service Cooperative is proud to announce the 2005 Young Writers Conference (YWC) hosted by Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. This two-day conference will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 for grades 7–12, and on Thursday, March 10, 2005 for grades 3–6. (We have reserved Friday, March 11, 2005 as alternate date in case of inclement weather. If the weather is questionable, please listen to your local station for conference cancellation information.)

Pete Bloedel, professor and theatre chair at Bethany Lutheran College, will kick-off the conference with a keynote titled: Ask the “Dumb Question!” followed by three breakout sessions where students travel to the topics of their choice. This is a great opportunity for students to participate in a unique, hands-on learning opportunity in writing.

The Young Writers Conference brochures and information sheet has been mailed to all school districts, and is also posted, in a PDF format, at www.mnscsc.org — click on Young Writers Conference.

Sessions are filled on a first-come basis—so please register early—the registration deadline is February 23, 2005. Each student must complete a registration form and submit payment to reserve a seat at the conference. We look forward to a great writers conference and to seeing you in March!
