Welcome Becky Splett to the Autism Resource Specialist (ARS) Group
By Loree Brown

You may already have seen Becky Splett out and about in schools this year. She is an autism resource specialist with Mankato Area Public Schools serving students on the autism spectrum. Splett’s office is at the Student Support Services Center, 1610 Commerce Drive, North Mankato and she can be reached at (507) 345-3015 x310 or bsplet1@isd77.k12.mn.us.

Becky lives in Elysian with her husband and together they have six children. She attended Minnesota State University-Mankato, where she received an undergraduate degree and completed a majority of her graduate work. She obtained her Master’s degree and autism certificate at Hamline University. Becky has taught E/BD (Emotional Behavioral Disability) and LD (Learning Disabilities) students since 1985. Over the last 10 to 15 years, she has expanded her teaching to include students with autism, other health disabilities and more. In addition, she is currently teaching a high school prep class at Dakota Meadows Middle School once a week and is hoping, by demonstrating that it is no different than teaching other subjects, that teachers will overcome their fear of delving into the social skills issue.
