SCSC NEWS FROM THE CENTER FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE State/National Schools of Character Award Program The Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) received two applications for consideration in the State/National Schools of Character Award Program. These applications are being reviewed and winners will be announced at a statewide recognition program in May. Applications for the 2009 State/National Schools of Character Award Program will be posted to the CAE website (www.mncae.org) this spring. Watch the website for details. Part of the Minnesota Schools of Character Awards Program offers another opportunity for schools to be recognized and to share their best practices with others the Minnesota Promising Practices Awards. In addition to applying for a State/National Schools of Character Award, schools may also submit for consideration one or more of the unique character education practices they have developed and implemented in their school/district. The Minnesota Promising Practices application deadline was March 1. A Blue Ribbon Panel will select those practices deemed to qualify as Minnesota Promising Practices and these Promising Practices will also be recognized at the state celebration in May, and posted to the CAE website to share with others. These same Promising Practices may be submitted for consideration at the national level submission deadline is March 15.
