Nominate Your Students as “Academic All-Stars” and Celebrate Their Success at the 2008 Gathering of Champions

It is almost time for Minnesota’s teachers, principals and academic challenge coordinators to nominate their students as “Academic All-Stars.” This nomination provides a testimonial to the outstanding teaching and learning taking place in our schools. Once nominated, students are eligible to attend the 2008 Gathering of Champions at the new Nickelodeon Universe Amusement Area in the Mall of America (formerly The Park at MOA.) This free annual celebration and recognition of students is sponsored by the Center for Academic Excellence and its partners.

Who is eligible to be nominated as an Academic All-Star?
We recommend you consider the top 2–5% of your students from the following three categories:

Why Should My Students Participate?
They have worked hard, and so have you! Recognize their accomplishments at the statewide level, coupled with an opportunity to celebrate with their family, friends and peers! Teachers and administrators are also welcome to attend the Gathering of Champions!

Watch for the Gathering of Champions email invitation in April. It will outline how to nominate your students as “Academic All-Stars.” We look forward to seeing you and your students at the Gathering of Champions in August!

We recommend you consider the top 2–5% of your students from the following three categories: Students who are consistent top academic performers, Students who have shown significant improvement in achievement or have overcome barriers to academic achievement, Students who are local, regional, or state champions in an Academic League endorsed challenge event.
