YOUNG WRITER'S CONFERENCE Radio Interviews Kick-off Young Writer’s Conference “Talk of the Town” host Pete Steiner and “ArtCetera’s” Marti Ryan interviewed keynote Carol McCormick, 15-year old author Victoria Kasten and Joyce Swenson of South Central Service Cooperative about this year’s Young Writer’s Conference. Carol was able to join the interviews at KTOE via phone and share her excitement for the event while Victoria added one more new experience to her accomplishments as a published authorradio interviews. Swenson shared exciting details about the 2007 event. This year’s Young Writer’s Conference will be held on Wednesday, March 7th for grades 39, and Thursday, March 8th for grades 36 at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, MN. Carol McCormick, professional storyteller, public speaker, trainer, and author of “A Bridge for Grandma,” will kick-off the conference with an opening keynote presentation. Carol has presented to hundreds of students in schools, colleges, and universities across the countrycaptivating their attention, sparking their imaginations, and inspiring them to make stories and writings come alive! Carol is a former classroom teacher who uses her stories as a powerful teaching tool. Twenty-seven presenters, including Victoria Kasten a 15-year-old published author, will participate offering 36 grade-specific sessions for students. There is a wide range of “writing” topics to choose from including: fiction writing, creative word play, poetry, character invention, storytelling, calligraphy, illustration, news story writing, graffiti writing, creative advertising, book making, and more. Students start the day at the opening session and move to three separate one-hour sessions of their choice.
