MATH MASTERS

Area Students Participate In Regional Math Masters Competition

Fifth & sixth grade students from around the region will gather for the annual Math Masters Competition. Sixth graders compete on Friday, March 16, 2007 and fifth graders compete on Friday, May 4, 2007 in the Sport & Fitness Center Complex at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. Thirty-two teams are expected at each contest representing nearly 200 students, parents & coaches from around the area. This contest is conducted in written format with individual and team winners announced at the end of the contest.

Students will complete eight rounds of written exams comprised of fact drills, individual problem solving, and team problem solving. All tests are timed and scored on site. Award plaques sponsored by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Minnesota will be presented at the conclusion of the contest. Parents, coaches, & community members are invited to attend. Contest runs from 8:00 a.m–12:00 p.m. with awards to follow at approximately 1:00 p.m.
