Junior High Knowledge Bowl Le Sueur-Henderson Black Earns First Place Honors at Regional Meet

Twenty four schools (57 teams and 342 students) met ten times (St. Peter, Granada Huntley East Chain, Blue Earth, St. Clair, St. Mary’s-Sleepy Eye, GFW, Martin County West, Sleepy Eye, Fairmont, and New Prague) to compete during October, November and December —followed by the sub-regional competition at MSU on December 19th where Sibley East Pink, Le Sueur Black, and BEA Pewter earned first, second, and third place honors respectively from a pool of 57 teams. The top 27 teams, ranked during sub-regional play, competed at Rasmussen Business College in a Regional meet. Trophies were awarded to the top five teams: 1st Le Sueur Black, 2nd Jordan Plaid, 3rd Sibley East Pink, 4th St. Peter Blue, and 5th BEA Pewter.

Teams of six students compete in one written and three to four oral rounds of competition in this interdisciplinary event requiring quick recall and team work. Questions are taken from the average curriculum for grades 7–9. Coaches receive practice session sets, equipment ordering materials and an advisor’s manual.

Senior High Knowledge Bowl Season Underway

Thirty three schools (86 teams and 430 students) will compete in fifteen invitational meets January-March which culminate in a sub-regional event on March 16th at MSU, followed by the regional meet for the top 27 teams, as determined in sub-region competition, on March 23rd at Rasmussen Business College. The top five teams will then advance to state competition on April 17–18, 2007 at Cragun’s Resort in Brainerd.

Teams of five students compete in one written and four to five oral rounds of competition in this interdisciplinary event requiring quick recall and team work. Questions are taken from standard curriculum for grades 9–12, including Minnesota history and geography.
