2007 WEM Outstanding Educator Awards Nomination Deadline Draws to a Close—Blue Ribbon Panel to Convene

The 2007 educator award program is underway. March 2nd is the deadline to place nominations for this year’s WEM Outstanding Educator Awards. Nominations may be placed by parents, students, and colleagues to acknowledge teachers who are making a difference in students’ lives.

In its ninth year, the WEM Outstanding Educator Award Program honors unsung heroes of education in three categories: Academic Challenge Coach of the Year, Teacher Achievement, and Ethics in Education. On March 30th, a special Blue Ribbon Panel will convene at the Minnesota Department of Education to review teacher applications and make recommendations to the WEM Foundation for the recipients of these awards.

In partnership with the service cooperative members of the Minnesota Regional Service Agency (MRSA) and CAE, the WEM Foundation will also recognize semi-finalists in the MRSA regions. After the six state award honorees have been determined, regional honorees will also be selected and recognized by the service cooperatives in all categories based on the results of the state Blue Ribbon Panel. The six statewide honorees will each be awarded an unrestricted $10,000 cash prize, a crystal apple, and will be honored at a recognition brunch this fall, courtesy of the WEM Foundation.
