WATER IS LIFE ART CONTEST

2007 “Water is Life” Art Contest Entry Deadline Draws Near

South Central Service Cooperative along with the Freshwater Society of Minnesota is once again partnering to make the 2007 “Water is Life” Scholarship Art Contest available to high school students in south central Minnesota.

The Freshwater Society of Minnesota is sponsoring a $3,000 Scholarship Art Contest for high school students who find an artistic and creative way to express the theme, “Water is Life.” Six semi-finalists from each of four service cooperative regions (south central, southeast, northeast, and portions of west metro) will be announced regionally at receptions in April. The South Central Service Cooperative reception will take place on April 18 at the Carnegie Art Center in Mankato—watch our website for reception details. A reminder to students—contest entries are due at the Cooperative on or before March 30, 2007.

Twenty-four semi-finalists will advance to the final art competition on May 9, 2007 at the Gray Freshwater Center in Excelsior. Parents, art instructors, and noted dignitaries will also be invited to attend this art exhibit and reception to honor all semi-finalists and to announce the three scholarship winners.

Brochures and details for the 2007 art contest are posted to the South Central Service Cooperative website: www.mnscsc.org, along with photos of the last two years contest winners. We are excited to bring this special opportunity to our local high schools and students—we hope students will utilize their artistic talents to participate in the “Water is Life” art contest in 2007.
