MINNESOTA ACADEMIC DECATHLON

Avalon High School Students Compete in the First USAD National Online Virtual Competition

Avalon High School students competed in the first United States Academic Decathlon (USAD) “national online virtual competition” for small schools. This virtual competition was held April 27–28, 2006 locally at each competing school. This new virtual competition allows first place state winners in the small school division to advance and compete at the national level with teams from all over the country without leaving their state. This year’s competition theme was “European Renaissance.” The Super QuizTM portion of the competition focused on European Renaissance: “Renewal and Reform.”

Avalon students were excited to compete with students from across the United States. Avalon was one of 22 schools competing in the 2006 virtual small school competition. (Students competing virtually did not participate in the interview, speech or oral Super Quiz relay.) For results of this new virtual competition please visit the USAD website at www.usad.org.
