CENTER FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE Blue Ribbon Panel Convenes to Review WEM Outstanding Educator Award Applications In its eighth year in existence, the WEM Outstanding Educator Award Program honors unsung heroes of education in three categories: Academic Challenge Coach of the Year, Teacher Achievement, and Ethics in Education, is currently reviewing recommendations for the 2006 WEM Outstanding Educator Awards. A special Blue Ribbon Panel convened on April 9th at the Minnesota Department of Education to review teacher applications and make recommendations to the WEM Foundation for the recipients of these awards. Applications were also reviewed and recommendations made to the state for the Milken Foundation Educator Awards. This year, in partnership with the service cooperative members of the Minnesota Regional Service Agency (MRSA), the Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) and the WEM Foundation will recognize semi-finalists in the MRSA regions. After the six state award honorees have been determined, regional honorees will also be recognized by the service cooperatives in all categories based on the results of the state Blue Ribbon Panel. The six statewide honorees will each be awarded an unrestricted $10,000 cash prize, a crystal apple, and will be honored at a recognition brunch this fall, courtesy of the WEM Foundation. Again, panel award recommendations are being reviewed and honoree announcements will be made in the very near future! Please visit the CAE website: www.mncae.org for more information on the Educator Awards Program and to view the 2006 recipients once released.
