The Gathering of Champions—August 4th 2006, at “The Park at MOA”—Mall of America

Academic All-Star Nominations for the 2006 Gathering of Champions are already being accepted! Schools currently are recognizing students as Academic All-Stars and sending their recommendations for students to attend this day of fun and celebration.

The Gathering of Champions will take place on Friday, August 4, 2006, at The Park at MOA (Formerly Camp Snoopy) Ballroom at the Mall of America. The Gathering of Champions is a statewide event created in 1990 to celebrate the accomplishments of K-12 students selected as Academic All-Stars by their schools or academic challenge providers.

The Gathering is a day-long celebration honoring Minnesota’s Academic All-Star students! A series of recognition ceremonies, each of which lasts about 40 minutes, will be repeated several times during the day, with the first program beginning at 9:00 a.m. and the final program beginning at 6:00 p.m. Participating students will be recognized on The Park at MOA ballroom stage as she/he receives a Certificate of Achievement and other items, including discount certificates for rides at The Park at MOA and discount purchases from participating mall merchants.

Academic All-Stars, along with their families, guests and school officials are invited to attend and participate in the Gathering of Champions—please pre-register early for best results! Many recognition ceremonies will fill quickly and we prefer to place individuals in their preferred show. To pre-register and reserve space for one of the shows, visit our website at www.mncae.org/goc.html. If you will have guests with you for the show, choose the group option (instead of individual) and enter the number of persons in your group —you must reserve a space for each person in your party, including the Academic All-Star.
