Project SOCRATES:

Go Online with E-learning from Class.com

Expand program options with e-learning from Class.com.   More than 45 one-semester courses are available online.  Through a partnership with South Central Service Cooperative and TIES, courses are available at a discount, and may be combined with ITV instruction utilizing trained and certified staff from your area.  Interactive online courses are designed to assist both the traditional and nontraditional students in your district.

Online course offerings allow districts to: broaden curriculum offerings, augment teaching staff, recapture dropouts, reach homebound students, help students make up credits, and expand summer school options.  For overview information of Class.com online courses and a course syllabi, click on this link: http://www.ties.k12.mn.us/main/lrntech/classcom.htm

Discounted district rates run approximately $170 per student for a semester course and courses combined with ITV instruction will cost $300 per semester (the usual fee for one semester daily ITV class.)  Most combined courses will view two ITV times per week, to be arranged after we have a list of participating school districts.   A Class.com (trained and appropriately certified) teacher from a district in your region will be used whenever possible; (two-day training is available from Project SOCRATES at low cost) otherwise a Minnesota certified teacher, supplied by another agency, will be used.

If you have any questions or need further information, contact Glenn Morris at South Central Service Cooperative (507-389-5106 or gmorris@mnscsc.org) or Project SOCRATES Director, Dale Carrison (507-388-4264 or dcarrison@projectsocrates.org).

Enrollments for the Class.com courses must be made directly with Project SOCRATES to obtain the discounted rates of participation.
