"Survivior: Wellness Island"

Lakeville School District #194 is home to the "Wellness Duo" Lori Helgemoe and Patty Streiff. These two Wellness Coordinators serve 14 schools and the district office in the Lakeville area. Motivation and fun are the weapons used by The Duo to fight down unhealthy attitudes, weight gain, non-nutritional food, and over sluggishness! They are resourceful, energetic, creative, and fun loving!

Sheer love of their job (one of many) as Wellness Coordinators permeates to motivate the employees in their district. These two try out their Wellness Games such as "Survivor: Wellness Island"—an eight week program where participants receive a new weekly mission and attempt to stay on the island by keeping track of their food intake, water consumption, physical activity and of course "their treats." Relaxation is also part of the island endeavor and participants focus on how relaxation can help to relief stress, tension and increase control in their life. Other games made famous by The Duo are the "Walk of Life Challenge," and "Homerun for Health Scorecard" which attempt to assist all employees in the district with wellness. The Duo love to see positive results and their goals and expectations are simple. "To just get the entire group involved in the activity."

Patty and Lori come to each Wellness Meeting prepared to share their ideas and enthusiasm with other area Wellness Coordinators, and we all wait to see what The Duo has thought up for this year.
