2004 Spring/Summer Workshops

Health/Safety Professionals and Financial Planners:

On June 8, 2004, Phil Allmon, Health Safety and Risk Management Coordinator of the Minnesota Department Education (MDE), will present a workshop to explain the basic and advanced policy issues and reporting requirements associated with the Capital Expenditure: Health and Safety Program to experienced and new health and safety professionals and financial planners. The workshop will be held at the Intergovernmental Center in Mankato from 9:15 a.m.–12:15 p.m. Registration may be completed at www.mnscsc.org.  Click on the events button.  (This workshop will be held in each region of the state during the month of June.)

This program, established by law under M.S. 123B.57, allows for districts to identify, schedule and fund health and safety projects derived from health and safety plans.  This year (2004 Pay 2005), consideration will be given for projects accomplished in fiscal years 2004, 2005 and 2006. A description of currently eligible project categories will also be provided. 

School Superintendents and Business Managers:

On May 13, 2004, Phil Allmon, Health Safety and Risk Management Coordinator of the Minnesota Department Education (MDE) and the finance department of MDE, will provide a workshop to present updated information pertaining to the financial process of using Health and Safety funds as provided by the Capital Expenditure: Health and Safety Program.  The workshop will be held at the Intergovernmental Center in Mankato 2004 from 9:00 a.m.–12:00 noon.  Registration may be completed at www.mnscsc.org.  Click on the events button.  (This workshop will be held in each region of the state during the months of May and June.)

Indoor Air Quality Coordinator Certification Trainings:                   

The Minnesota Departments of Health (MDH) and Education (MDE) will be hosting three Indoor Air Quality Coordinator Certification Trainings this May in your area.   Completion of this one-time training qualifies attendees to be a school district IAQ Coordinator. (A certificate will be presented.)
