SPECIAL EDUCATION And on this farm we had…Fun and Jack McGowan! On Sunday, October 8, families with children who are visually impaired and families with children on the Autism Spectrum spent a beautiful fall day down by the Minnesota River on the Jack McGowan Farm. There were about 80 people in all who enjoyed a fun, filled, action packed day. Many were seen digging for dragon tears, hanging on to the zip line, trying their best to walk on stilts, playing giant croquet with bowling balls, making music with hanging tanks, and balancing on the huge wooden spools. Some families just enjoyed walking on the farm and skipping rocks into the river on this beautiful, Indian summer day. Jack, of course, is always present and is a man of all trades and master of fun who will do almost anything for anyone. He made popcorn and had a big roaring fire, and the families roasted hot dogs and made smores. Jack is often heard saying, “It’s all about the kids.” > Next Special Education Article: Seventh Annual Region 9 Paraprofessional Training Day
