Students will be asked to create art that expresses meaningful and artistic ways to respond to the theme, Water is Life, focusing on our most precious resource—water. Art projects may be submitted in three categories: flat surface (painting, drawing, or graphic design), photography, or three-dimensional (sculpture).

The school’s intent to participate forms is due December 1, 2006. The student art entries are due April 6, 2007, and these entries will be judged and winners announced at a reception at the Carnegie Art Center- Mankato, April 18, 2007. Nine students will advance from each region to the state gala in May where the scholarship winners will be announced.

Last year was the second year of the “Water is Life” contest and nine SCSC school districts participated with 34 student entries. Congratulations to Kara Streeter (pictured right) from Sibley East High School who was one of the three state scholarship recipients.
