Power Limited Technician Exam Preparation and Application

A four-day Power Limited Technician Exam Preparation class taught by Ed Lethert was held in North Mankato during the month of August. This was in response to the governor signing the bill that opened a window of opportunity for persons that were otherwise unable to qualify to take the examination for the Power Limited Technician License.

Anyone 18 years of age or older may apply to take the Power Limited Technician License examination simply by filling out the appropriate application form available from the Minnesota Electricity Board office, or on the Board web site at www.electricity.state.mn.us. Experience references ARE NOT required when the application is received in the Board office by September 30, 2005. Note that being postmarked by this date is not sufficient. The application must be received in the Board office by September 30. Instructions for completion of the license application form are also found on the Board web site. An application fee of $35 must be paid to the Board at the time the application is submitted.

The Minnesota Electricity Board urges all interested parties to submit their application at the earliest possible date. Once the application is submitted and a letter of approval received from the board, the candidate may take the Power Limited Technician examination at their leisure. There is no cut-off date.
