Student Enrichment Programs

1st Annual SCSC Regional Chess Tournament

South Central Service Cooperative is pleased to host the first annual one-day non-USCF rated tournament to celebrate kids and chess. Competition is open to students in grades K–12 and will be held November 19, 2005.

Competitors from the south central region and southern Minnesota are invited to compete in this tournament. Flyers and registration forms will be mailed to all schools soon. For additional information please contact Kate Brau at 507.828.1669 or kmadrini@d.umn.edu, refer to the SCSC Student Academic Outreach Handbook, and visit our website: www.mnscsc.org. Register soon—registrations must be completed and mailed to SCSC with payment of $20 by November 5, 2005.

The SCSC Regional Chess Tournament will start with check-in at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2005, followed by the first round of play at 9:00 a.m. The final round will finish at approximately 2:00 p.m., followed by an awards ceremony.

Another SCSC regional tournament is being planned for the spring of 2006—dates and information will follow. Please check our website for updates.
