In recognition and appreciation of outstanding board service, Kathy Brynaert, South Central Service Cooperative Board Member, was presented with the Minnesota Regional Service Agency’s (MRSA) Outstanding Service Award at the July 2005 annual service cooperative meeting. This award recognizes an individual who demonstrates outstanding accomplishments and innovative practices through utilizing leadership, goals and philosophies in the
promotion of services delivered through the Service Cooperatives.
Kathy is a dedicated board member serving both community and school district. She has been a Service Cooperative Board Member and a School Board member for the Mankato School District since July of 1995. As a board member, Kathy has served on a wide range of committees and boards including Negotiations, Assessment, District Legislative, MSBA Delegate Assembly and Legislative Liaison, planning team that resulted in Bridges Community School, several Referendum Election teams, and Educare. She is an informed board member that takes the time to listen to all sides of an issue and seeks information before determining the best solutions for the boards she serves.
It is easy to see why Kathy has been an elected public representative since 1995!
In addition to her school board service, Kathy has been actively involved in her community for more than twenty years. Her vast community involvement includes an early involvement in the Mankato Food Cooperative and the Suzuki School of Music, service as a founding member of the Mankato Area Healthy Youth initiative, Downtown Kiwanis member, and has a broad assortment of volunteer parent and community organization work. She has also worked as the Director of Parent Education for CHAP for the past four years. Prior to her work with CHAP, she was primarily a homemaker and community volunteer and before having children she taught philosophy and had various other jobs. Kathy holds a Bachelor’s degree from the College of St. Teresa and a Master’s degree from Duquesne University.
The South Central Service Cooperative Board of Directors’ nominated Kathy Brynaert as an Outstanding Board Member without reservation. She is clearly a leader whose commitment to being an “active voice for youth and families” in her schools and community is nothing less than admirable.
