Shelley Oltmans Named as City Administrator for Jackson, MN
The City of Jackson, MN has chosen Shelley Oltmans as its next city administrator.
Working with the South Central Service Cooperative of North Mankato on the search process, the City of Jackson narrowed the candidate field from 13 to three. Interviews took place on February 20 and 21, with a second interview with Oltmans on March 1. The City Council made its decision official with final discussions at its March 6, 2024 meeting. The city attorney will now draft a final employment agreement that Oltmans will execute, and the city council will take final action at its March 19 council meeting. Oltmans will begin her full-time duties on April 22, 2024.
Oltmans grew up on a farm just a few miles east of Jackson in western Martin County. She graduated from Martin County West School District and received a BA in Global Studies and German Studies from the University of Minnesota. She completed her master’s in Community Regional Planning, and Sustainable Agriculture from Iowa State University.
Oltmans has eight years of experience in a combined role as Industrial Specialist II for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Community and Economic Development and as Executive Director of the Keokuk Area Chamber of Commerce. Oltmans is currently the Director of the IDEA Center and Konneker Leadership Program for Culver-Stockton College. Oltmans also serves on the Keokuk City Council.
